Local Authors and Artists 🧑‍🎨 to Appear at First Lakenenland Sculpture Park Summer Festival

(Marquette, MI) – The Lakenland Sculpture Park on M-28 has been a popular outdoor art scene for over 25 years and features more than 100 outdoor sculptures. This summer, they are hosting the first-ever in-person gathering of local authors and artists on Sunday, July 21st 2024 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on site.  As always, admission is free to the public and families are welcome!  Lakenenland is featured prominently as part of the PureMichigan tourism portfolio. Please note that Lakenenland is an outdoors facility and not ADA compliant.

Upper Peninsula Publishers & Authors Association (UPPAA) President Victor R. Volkman commented: “We are always interested in developing new ways to connect local authors to area residents and U.P. visitors. Lakenenland’s new festival, in the heart of the Summer tourism season, provides a great opportunity to expose our U.P. arts and cultural community to a wider audience than ever.”  He went on to list the authors confirmed to be present:

  • Marty Achatz – the Bigfoot Poet
  • Larry Buege – author of the popular Chogan series of Native American stories for middle-grades
  • Victoria Bullock – author, tarot, and spirit communicator
  • Adam Dompierre – author of Wild Bolts Electric, a future noir detective thriller
  • Ronnie Ferguson – author and musician
  • Ellen Lord – poet
  • Roslyn McGrath – author of meditation books, card decks, and personal coach
  • Nancy Bar & Tom Lakenen – children’s books

Additionally, a wide variety of arts and crafts people will be exhibiting, including:

  • Annie Bishop – paintings
  • Sue Johnson – driftwood mosaics
  • Cindy Engle – fused glass art including ornaments and jewelry
