Eight poets join author and editor Raymond Luczak this November in St. Paul, Minnesota, to celebrate the publication of Feet in the Waves: Poems of Lake Superior (Modern History Press 2026), a book of poems themed on Lake Superior.
From the waves in water to the pen of the poet, Lake Superior is a force of nature that channels the many moods and shades of life. Feet in the Waves: Poems of Lake Superior is an anthology of poems that samples some of these moods and shades as shared by thirty-six poets from across the Lake Superior region and beyond. Edited by Raymond Luczak, who also has four poems in the anthology, the book also includes some striking photographs by Arthur Durke.
While Lake Superior has remained a looming presence in the literature published by Modern History Press, Feet in the Waves is the first feature-length publication specifically themed on Lake Superior – its icy grandeur, hidden dangers, quiet beauty, rich history, and deep emotional resonances.
Hosted by Luczak, the event will be held on November 5, 2026 at the STORY LINE BOOKS in St. Paul, Minnesota. It will feature eight poets all of whom had one or more poems published in Feet in the Waves: Ted Cornwell, Margaret Hasse, Jayson Iwen, Shelby D. Johnson, Vivien Luczak, Liz Minette, Sheila Packa, and Miriam Weinstein. The poet will read from their works and tell about their personal connection to Lake Superior.
The event will start at 6 PM and will be ASL-interpreted. Entry is free.
