Eve's Covering

By Elsie McKenney

When Eve moves to a charming lake town nestled along the Lake Michigan shoreline, her parents are excited to make a fresh start and new friends. But Eve soon realizes there's something sinister about the Blackwells and wonders if she can break free from their deception before it's too late.

Eve is troubled by the mysterious circumstances surrounding her cousin Alice’s death, but the police won’t take her seriously. When Eve’s family becomes entangled with a religious cult, she struggles with the ideas and leaders who now assume control over her life. But when her rebellion threatens the safety of her family, she gives in and joins the cult’s mission: an orphanage in the Soviet Union. Or, at least that’s the mission on the surface. When Eve discovers the orphanage is a cover for something much more sinister, she sets out to rescue her friends who’ve slowly disappeared, one at a time. The trouble is–she knows too much. If she’s caught, it will be the end of them all.

Eve’s Covering is inspired by the author’s personal experience of life in a cult. Written as fiction, much of Eve’s life is based on her own move to northern Michigan, where her family joined a cult, costing her her friends, family, and everything she held dear. When strange, supernatural things began to happen, she escaped, and ended up homeless in a foreign country before making her way home–only to find it gone. This is her story. This is Eve’s story. A story of escape and of God’s covering of protection: Eve’s Covering.
